England book spot in UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final after dramatic extra-time victory
England secured their place in the UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 final in thrilling fashion, overcoming Italy 2-1 thanks to late heroics from Michelle Agyemang and Chloe Kelly.
Despite dominating much of the match, England found themselves trailing after a first-half strike from Barbara Bonansea put Italy on course for their first final appearance since 1997. However, substitute Agyemang, who had also scored a crucial equaliser against Sweden in the quarter-finals, found the net deep into stoppage time to send the match into extra time.
With penalties looming, Chloe Kelly—England’s 2022 final heroine—stepped up once again. After her initial penalty was saved, she reacted quickest to bury the rebound in the 119th minute, sealing a famous comeback and England’s spot in Sunday’s final in Basel, where they will face either Germany or Spain.
