Real Madrid secured their place in the Spanish Super Cup final after overcoming Atlético Madrid in the semi-final derby played in Jeddah. A spectacular early goal from Valverde and a second-half finish by Rodrygo sealed the victory, setting up a final clash with Barcelona on Sunday, where Los Blancos will aim to claim their first trophy of the year.

The match began perfectly for Madrid, who struck almost immediately. Just two minutes in, Valverde unleashed an incredible long-range free kick, firing the ball into the top corner beyond Oblak’s reach. That moment gave Xabi Alonso’s side control of the game, and after the break they doubled their advantage. Rodrygo found the net following a well-worked move, assisted by Valverde. Atlético responded through Sorloth, reducing the deficit to 2-1, but it wasn’t enough to change the outcome.

The semi-final couldn’t have had a better opening for Madrid. Valverde’s powerful free kick, struck with the outside of his right foot, flew past the Atlético goalkeeper despite his full stretch. Madrid remained solid defensively during the opening half hour and came close to extending their lead on two occasions. In the 28th minute, Carreras led a swift counter-attack, with Rodrygo cutting inside before forcing a save from Oblak. A minute later, Bellingham delivered a cross that found Vini Jr, but his header from close range went wide.
