South Africa and Cameroon will meet at the 2025 CAF Africa Cup of Nations for only the second time when they clash in the Round of 16 on Sunday evening at Al Medina Stadium in Rabat. Kick-off is scheduled for 20:00 local time (19:00 GMT), with a place in the quarter-finals at stake.
The two sides last met at AFCON in the opening match of the 1996 tournament, when hosts South Africa claimed a memorable 3-0 victory on their way to winning the title. Overall, South Africa hold the upper hand in the head-to-head record, having lost just once to Cameroon in nine meetings.
The match also marks a special occasion for South Africa head coach Hugo Broos, who previously led Cameroon to AFCON glory in 2017. Assistant coach Helman Mkhalele, meanwhile, was part of the squad that faced Cameroon in the iconic 1996 opener.
