Kairat FC made History

 Kairat Almaty made history in UEFA Champions League.

Kazakhstan champions Kairat made history in the UEFA Champions League by becoming the first club from Kazakhstan to reach the league phase. Their opponent was Scottish champions Celtic.

The first leg in Scotland ended in a 0-0 draw. In the return match, despite both teams’ efforts, neither side managed to score. Extra time also failed to produce a goal, and the match went to penalties. In the shootout, Kairat defeated their opponent 3-2, achieving a historic milestone for both the club and the country by qualifying for the Champions League league phase.

In the night’s other matches, Cypriot side Pafos held Crvena Zvezda to a 1-1 draw at home and made history by qualifying for the Champions League league stage for the first time. Meanwhile, Norwegian champions Bodø/Glimt, despite losing 2-1 away to Austrian champions Sturm Graz in the return leg, advanced to the league stage thanks to their dominant 5-0 home victory.
