Luis Díaz Scores on Bayern Debut as Kane Strikes in Super Cup Win Over Stuttgart

Luis Díaz made an instant impact on his Bayern Munich debut, scoring alongside Harry Kane to secure a German Super Cup victory over Stuttgart.

The Colombian winger, who arrived from Liverpool this summer in a £65.5m deal, capped off a dream start by heading in Serge Gnabry’s cross in the 77th minute to put Bayern two goals ahead. England captain Kane had earlier opened the scoring in the first half, pouncing on a defensive error to slot the ball into the bottom corner.

Stuttgart’s Jamie Leweling netted in stoppage time, but his strike was no more than a consolation as Bayern lifted their first trophy of the new campaign.

After finding the net, Díaz paid tribute to his late former Liverpool teammate Diogo Jota, who tragically passed away in a car accident in July along with his brother André Silva, by mimicking one of the Portuguese forward’s trademark celebrations.

The win marks Bayern’s 11th Super Cup triumph, while Kane now has two trophies in Germany after finally ending his silverware drought last season.

Vincent Kompany’s side, who reclaimed the Bundesliga title last year after Bayern’s 11-season streak was broken in 2024, will kick off their title defence against RB Leipzig on August 22.
